Wayne B. Hickory, D.M.D., M.D.S.

Dr. Hickory is a graduate of Trinity College (B.S.) Connecticut. He earned a Master's degree (M.S.) in nutritional science at Boston University, School of Graduate Dentistry. For the next seven years, Dr. Hickory was at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, completing the Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) and the three-year postdoctoral program in orthodontics (Certificate) and Masters of Dental Science (M.D.S.)

Originally in a career in orthodontic research and teaching, Dr. Hickory was a full-time faculty member of orthodontics at the Vrije University in Holland and the University of Maryland. Dr. Hickory has over 20 years of experience in orthodontic private practice and continues to consult in orthodontic practices and teach orthodontic courses in the US, Europe and Asia. He is a member of Align Technology's Alpha Group and Speakers Bureau.

Sandra E. Selnick, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Selnick graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from the University of Miami, Florida. She earned her doctoral degree in dentistry (D.D.S.) from the University of Maryland, graduating with special recognition from the American Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Selnick completed a hospital-based general practice residency with the VA Medical Center in Baltimore. Her interest in orthodontics led her back to the University of Maryland for three years of specialty training and certificate in orthodontics. She concurrently pursued her research in orthodontic computer analysis, earning a Master's degree (M.S.) in oral biology.

Dr. Selnick had private practice experience and was staff orthodontist at Children's Hospital/Washington Hospital Center prior to joining Dr. Hickory.

Eduardo Avila , D.M.D., M.S.

Dr. Avila has a Doctorate of Dental Medicine and an orthodontic specialty from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts.

At Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Dr. Avila earned a Master's degree in Public Health. To build on his public health experience he has done volunteer work in the states at Light of the World Clinic, Good News Care Center in Florida and abroad in Mexico and El Salvador.

While at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Dr. Avila graduated with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Food Science and Human Nutrition, as well as in Zoology.

Dr. Avila has been practicing in the D.C. area for the past two years and is very excited to help us expand our hours to the benefit of our patients. He looks forward to building lasting relationships, while continuing to provide excellent, high quality care to our patients.
